I'm in France!

We arrived in France this morning around 9 am. Lesson learned today: I packed WAAAAAAY too much!!

While I do not think I have too many clothes, etc. My suitcase is definitely heavier than I can handle. :( However, I did read in my People Magazine on the way here that the arms are the easiest to get into shape therefore within these next 11 days my arms should begin to look a lot like Cameron Diaz's.....or so I hope...

The flight was good. A little bit of turbulence occurred in the middle in which Liz Keller and I were sure we were about to die or at least end up in the ocean with sharks and icebergs. But clearly we are just over-dramatic.

Let's see, on the flight I watched an episode of The Office, the one where Michael and Dwight try to take the Prince Paper Company out of business. Confessions of a Shopaholic, Mary Poppins and listened to great hits such as Earth, Wind, and Fire's "September" (of course!) Hank Williams "Honky Tonk Blues" and Metallica's "Enter Sandman". The plane was a good flight overall.

Once we landed we drove and had a picnic along the side of the road then we went on to Chartres where we saw this amazing cathedral. The spires are completely different because one was knocked down during a war and when it was rebuilt it was built in a different style. We then got amazing sandwiches and continued on to Tours.

We arrived in Tours, got our rooms, then went to supper. Dinner was a little difficult at first because a) we had to only speak in French and b) I was sitting with hardcore anti-greek, republicans and for those of you who know me well...let's just say I had a very quiet dinner.

After dinner we went out on the town! It was so much fun because we found this square that is very old and was full of people. We got to use our language and communicate with people in the community as well as each other. Of course we spoke a lot more English than French but it's great to get to know the people on the trip! We only have 3 boys, however, they are definitely taking up the role of protecting us from creepers.

And guess what!? My roommate....is from MU. AND she's not 1/2 bad....her parents both went to KU though...I'm sure by the end of the trip we will have her converted!! Wish me luck....better yet wish her luck ;) How I would hate to be stuck in an MU group right now!! J/K We love her like a Jayhawk and we got her to say Rock Chalk tonight sooo progress is going well!

Anyways we have an early morning tomorrow so I better get to bed! (P.S. I have set the clock to Paris time so you know what time I'm posting this at!)

Bon nuit!
Katie
