Wine from the Vine

Day Two -
Today we went and saw Leo's house, and by Leo I mean Leonardo Da Vinci. It was so cool! Inside were all of his sketches of his inventions and of course his few semi-well known paintings such a the Mona Lisa. The real Mona Lisa is on display at the Louvre in Paris so I won't see it until I get there but it was so cool to be at his house!! His house had a fabulous garden and an incredible view!! It's so weird to think Da Vinci actually walked where I walked today! Everything here is so old while in the US if something is more than 20 years old we tear it down.

After his house we went to the Chateau Amboise. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chateau_Amboise

It was really cool. Nice views, it must be nice to be a king!

After this we went and had lunch and it was delicious! It was a picnic but the food here is so much fresher and just more satisfying! Des tomates (tomatoes) were sooooooooooo good!! And le fromage (cheese) is to die for!! The only complaint I have is the lack of water - I'm thirsty!! Wine is cheaper here than water! I don't get that - I guess it's a french thing.

After lunch we went to the winery where we tasted wine and learned how it is made - well the lady told us how it was made and I caught a few words of it in French. I'll learn more daily but today I was not ready to understand any of it.

Then we were done for the day. Steph and I went to try to buy a cellphone but we were told by a girl in our group that she bought her's in Paris the other day for 9 euro and all the places we were seeing it was 70 euro just for the phone! We then decided to continue on and go shopping!

We went into a lot of stores and I bought a dress and a shirt, even though I said I would not buy clothes!! Oops! We then returned home where I skyped my parents and then went to dinner...

For dinner we had smoked salmon in a tarter sauce for appetizer, duck and scalloped potatoes for dinner, a ice cream dessert (it was ice cream with tiny broken up bits of peanut brittle made with all different types of nuts! it was soooooo good!!), followed by un cafe du lait (coffee). It was a very good meal!

Now I am at home and I'm going to call it an early night because we have to be downstairs at 7:45 am!! Ahhh!!

Well this post was kinda boring sorry, I'm just tired.
I'll write again tomorrow!
Bon nuit!
Katie

P.S. Tomorrow I'm going to attempt putting up photos!
